Specialty and Customized HPLC Columns
IBS (TM) specialty HPLC columns are supplied with one or several tailor-made HPLC applications aimed at solving industry-specific analytical tasks that emerge in healthcare, biotechnology, agricultural, food, chemical, oil and energy industries.
The key feature of the entire range of our specialty HPLC solutions is using isocratic elution mode. Every IBS (TM) application exploits benefits of this approach, namely unsurpassed robustness and the highest possible separation specificity, in order to present the best speciality HPLC solution available on the market.
Every original IBS (TM) separation provided can be realized using standard 400 bar HPLC pump. Application of higher flow rates makes it possible to achieve shorter run times, although it requires the use of UHPLC equipment.
IBS (TM) applications can be customized as appropriate. In case separation obtained on IBS (TM) column is good in general, but not perfect down to the last detail, our specialists can change and fine-tune the original separation conditions to suit best for a specific analytical task. Therefore, customized HPLC columns are supplied with fully customized HPLC applications developed by I.B.S. specialists.
With IBS (TM) specialty and customized HPLC columns you can be sure you own the most cost-effective, straightforward and reliable HPLC solutions ever possible.

IBSnutri PS-1: Preservatives and artificial sweeteners
Scope. The stationary phase is designed for the determination of two preservatives (benzoic and sorbic acids), four artificial sweeteners (aspartame, acefulfam, saccharin, cyclamate) and caffeine in juices and beverages using isocratic elution mode.
Figure 1. Group HPLC determination of aspartame, acesulfame, saccharin, cyclamate, benzoic acid, sorbic acid and caffeine.
SP: 250x4.6 IBSnutri PS-1
MP: Acetonitrile (15mM NH4H2PO4) 7:93
Flow rate: 0.8 ml/min
Column temperature: 45 °C
Benefits
1. The possibility to determine seven target compounds simultaniously under isocratic elution conditions.
2. The approach requires the conventional UV detector only (there is no need to purchase an expensive RI detector).
3. Main UV-absorbing matrix components (first of all, organic acids) are well separated from target compounds under conditions used in the application.
4. The determination of benzoic and sorbic acids can be carried out using a mobile phase that is free from organic solvents. Thus, this solution is optimal for food laboratories.
Figure 2. Group HPLC determination of benzoic and sorbic acids in juices and beverages using the 100% aqueous mobile phase. a) Chromatogram of standards, b) Chromatogram of an apple juice spiked with benzoic and sorbic acids.
SP: 250x4.6 IBSnutri PS-1
MP: 10 mM NH4H2PO4
Flow rate: 0.8 ml/min
Column temperature: 45 °C
Comments
1. To determine benzoic and sorbic acids in matrices that contain fats and surfactants (for example, cosmetics, fat-containing food, etc.), we reccomend to use another stationary phase, namely IBSnutri PR-1.
2. In case preservative is ascorbic acid, it can be determined using IBSnutri PR-2 in aqueous matrices, or using IBSnutri PR-1 in fat-containing matrices.
